Kitesurfing: Why You Shouldn't Be Frightened

As a novice to kiteboarding, or kitesurfing, I'm sure there are many available to you just like me who think it's a truly cool extreme sport. A lot of people I know who will be already into extreme sports are nervous to try kitesurfing because everyone remembers the YouTube video for the guy slamming into a building. Scary stuff right? For those of you who don't know what this sport is, let me explain. Kitesurfing is the higher adrenaline, faster version of surfing. You don't have to watch for a wave to come that looks right, you're in full control over for which you go, how fast you go, and what wave to catch. Through the use of a kite, you use the wind to propel both you and your board through the water. I might say it's a detailed cousin to wake boarding, but you don't need the boat. If you fall, you don't have to wait for the board to turn around and come enable you to get. The issues presented by utilizing the wind to manage your speed and movement are probably pretty obvious: you have to rely on the wind. The wind has got to be an excellent speed, direction, blowing at a consistent rate, along with to really have the right size kite for the wind.  You need to know how to control it. If you let the wind carry you, you can go 60 feet within the air, freak out, and come crashing down. So it is important to understand what you're getting into, and it is important to understand the basics so you're safe and so you can have the absolute most fun. I'll look at some of these basics here and hopefully peak the interest of those of you who think it really is too insane of a sport for you really to try.

From the beginning, you'll want to discover ways to make use of your kite to pull you through the water. The very first thing many people practice is called body dragging. Body dragging is when you let the kite pull you through the water, without needing your board. This helps you will get an awareness of this wind, but more to the point, it will help you've got an excellent experience whenever you do venture out together with your board. Just like wakeboarding, or surfing, you're going to fall of one's board sometimes. Therefore if that takes place, you must know how to get up to your board when you look at the simplest way possible. To get to your board, you utilize the kite to drag your system through the water. That you do not would you like to drop your kite, swim to your board, and then attempt to make contact with your kite. Your board is going to survive whether or not it washes ashore. You intend to remember to take care of your kite. It's your most crucial piece of gear. Once you know how to make use of your kite correctly, you can easily lose your board a million times, get right up to it, and hop back on for a great ride.

Another technique you need to study on the start, is how to control your speed regardless of how fast the wind is blowing. Most of the time, you aren't planning to just allow the wind determine how fast you go and for which you go. You can take control of your speed if you are paying awareness of the sweet spot. This spot is where your kite is fully caught because of the wind and in which you'll get the maximum benefit power. The areas right outside this sweet spot will still catch the wind, but it'll be off at a unique angle and enable one to keep moving, but slow down as well. It is important to use a combination of most of these areas. A beneficial kitesurfer will rotate involving the sweet spot while the two areas around it, one just above, one just below. You can accomplish this quite easily by rotating your arms in an "S" like shape. This can enable you to gain power, and control it, gain power, and control it, by always moving through the sweet spot after which from it again. This is how you retain yourself from sailing through the air uncontrolled and bending towards the whim of the wind. You actually want to control your kite along with your speed.

Once you gain control over your speed and learn to properly manage the wind which has been given to you, then you can begin to play around. This is when you can use the wind to pop you up into the air, do a flip, and land safely back off from the water. Needless to say there are lots of other things you must learn, as well as for that you should go to a school. My husband and I chose Honolulu Kite School-- of which, I strongly recommend if you create it to Hawaii. I recommend kitesurfing in Hawaii as a whole due to Kailua Bay. Lots of people go here since the winds are strong and very consistent in direction and speed. It really is difficult to learn at that bay, so definitely go with an instructor to a sand bar or something like that else.
